SALES LEADERSHIP
Automaker is now fifth largest in Canada by sales volume
MARKHAM, Ontario (May 3, 2011)
is the best-selling passenger car brand in Canada with sales of 28,406 units. Having sold a total of
41,319 light vehicles year-to-date, the automaker outpaced Honda (including the Acura brand) by
2,007 units to become the fifth largest in the country by sales volume.
Thanks to the best month of sales in the nameplate’s history, Sonata was once again the number-one
selling model in the intermediate segment in April. Similarly, Accent continued its two-year streak as
the leader of the subcompact segment, outselling each of its competitors by a factor of almost two-toone
during the past month. All-time record sales of Elantra and Elantra Touring have further
contributed to the company’s position as an industry leader in passenger car sales.
